Music Director

Rick  Vandenhole,

Music Director at St. Paul’s

Rick attended Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon singing vocal jazz music before going on to complete a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon.

He has been a music teacher for over 25 years in elementary, middle, and high school throughout North Kitsap, Bainbridge Island, South Kitsap and Central Kitsap school districts. Rick has conducted children's, high school, and adult choirs in both school and church settings and has directed nearly 100 elementary school musical productions during his teaching career.

Rick grew up attending the Presbyterian church and singing in the chancel choir in San Jose, California.  At age 18 he joined the Mormon Church, served a mission for the church and later was a choir director, children’s music director, and regional music chairman/choir director before leaving the church in 2015.

Rick is a father to two sons and a daughter. He lives in Bremerton with his partner, Jeffery, two dogs, two parrots, two cats, and seven turtles.  Rick loves to travel, garden with Jeffery in their backyard tropical oasis, and perform in musical theater.

“I am excited to explore the liturgy, traditions and music of the Episcopal church, to bring my own unique contributions to the mix, and to build what I expect will be strong, lasting friendships.”
